Playing with watercolors & #2 pencils

Hello, thanks for popping in.  I'm a little early with my Just Inklined weekly post, but when I was poking around the SCS Mixed Media challenge, this card just came together in my head 🙂  First off, the image is called Daisy Patch from Just Inklined… I ADORE daisies!!!  The layout for this card is from this week's SCS Sketch challenge.  A couple of weeks ago I picked up some great watercolor paper from the local art supply store… I LOVE the deep texture of the paper!

I used some watercolor crayons to color my image.  I used a paint brush and a cup of water as opposed to a water color pen so I could control the amount of water better.  I picked out 2 colors for each area, a light and a dark and layed down the lighter colors first, then added water and had fun!  Next I added the darker colors where I wanted them and used just enough water to blend.  For the centers of the flowers I also added some teeny dots with a Black (100) Copic marker.  For the blue background I wanted some of the paper's texture to show, but like I said it's a deep texture, so I added just a enough water to move the color around but not saturate the paper… LOVE the look!  Now last week's Mixed Media challenge over on SCS was to use a #2 or graphite pencil… this one stumped me!  But I decided to make little dots around my flower cluster with the pencil… it added a soft, barely there look.

Well that's about it.  I do LOVE my Copics, but I have to admit I am having a ball playing with other mediums lately 🙂  Thanks for popping by, hope you are having a wonderful week and hope to see you again soon!!
