Kraftin Kimmie Challenge & my first playtime with Distress Markers

IMG_1658

Today's all about BIRTHDAYS at Kraftin Kimmie!  This week's challenge hostess is Peggy and she's challenged us to make a birthday card!  Today I got some new Distress Markers (thanks to Terri @ Stamps Alive!) and I couldn't wait to play with them!  Let me first say, that I didn't really know what to do with them, but I was excited none the less, lol!  The layout from this card is last week's Sweet Sunday Sketch.

The flowers are from the Flowers Feed the Soul set.  I realized that I didn't have a proper waterproof ink pad to stamp the image with so I just used my Brilliance pad and colored carefully.  Also, I used an AquaPen I got years ago… I will likely pick up the Tim Holtz water pens and use those in combination with some nice paint brushes I already have.  After coloring the flowers I took the fine tip end of the markers I'd used and did a little stippling… in the end, OMG!!  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these markers!!!!  For the flower centers I added some Lemon Yellow Liquid Pearls.  The sentiment is from the Hip, Hip, Hooray set.  Is it wrong to send a birthday card for myself?? Cause I'm REALLY loving this one! lol   I also played along (again) with the Catered Crop Garden Party Recipe swap & the Cupcake Inspiration challenge!
