I have been a fan of "mixed media" projects for a bit now, and Tobi Crawford has always dazzled me with her artwork, but I never thought it was something I could do… until NOW! I think she's created a monster!!!
If you've followed my blog for any amount of time, you may know that my daughter is no longer capable of giving a gift to ANYbody that doesn't have handmade packaging from Mom (me), lol. Well she's on her way to visit her bf for his birthday and naturally needed Mom to "wrap" this gift. I used a template for the packaging, and then decorated the "band" around it. When I saw this Wednesday Trend from Tobi using Gesso, I knew I had to give it a try and this package and these stamps were perfect!! I took some dp I had in my stash (you can see it has a bunch of words "typed" on it relating to birthdays) and covered it with a couple of layers of Gesso (one just wasn't enough). Then I stamped the "Happy" from Handwritten and stagger-stamped it in black.
If ya look closely at the picture below you can see that I also stamped "birthday" from Handwritten randomly in Denim Distress Ink (it really does pop a little more irl). I REALLY loved the look!!! Last but not least I stamped a couple of Arrows from Mixed Media Backgrounds, stamped in Denim Distress Ink and stamped the Heart from the same set in Barn Red Distress Ink, cut them all out and the attached with Sticky Thumbs (pop dots).
While I really do LOVE coloring, this Mixed Media stuff is UBER-fun!!! Thanks Tobi 😉 Happy hopping, the Trendsetters have lots of ideas for these sets!
